Wisden truth?

WISDEN TRUTH?

I'm reading a fascinating new history of cricket. I didn't know, for example, that in the late 18th and early 19th century, a father and son duo named Arthur and Alfred Tell were reputed to be the fastest bowlers in England.

Unfortunately they were itinerant blacksmiths by profession, travelling all over the country and playing cricket wherever they happened to be.

Which means of course we'll never really know for whom the Tells bowled.
